Spoke Length Calculator
Symmetric hub:
The flanges are the same size and equally spaced from the centre-line of the hub.
Asymmetric hub:
The flanges are of differing sizes and/or unequally spaced from the centre-line of the hub.
Will measure hub:
Choosing this will allow you to enter hub flange information by simply measuring the OLD (Over Locknut Dimension) and the distance between flanges (symmetric hub), or distance between flanges and locknut (asymmetric hub). The calculations for determining the width from centre to flange will be made for you.
Have hub measurements:
You will need to specify the centre to flange dimensions of the hub, from the manufacturers specification for example.
Have rim ERD:
You will need to know the Effective Rim Diameter. ERD is measured to the end of the spoke, usually flush with the head of the nipple.
Hjulcompaniet Rim Gauge
The Hjulcompaniet rim gauge is an effective tool for accurately measuring Effective Rim Diameter (ERD).
The gauge consists of two steel rods of specific length, which are passed through the rim at opposing spoke holes.
The overlap of the rods is then measured using vernier calipers.
The measured value can then be entered directly into the Hjulcompaniet spoke length calculator.
These gauges are available directly from Hjulcompaniet for kr 150.
